Global Potential's Sarah Gogel on encuentro 5
"As an activist, I have been inspired by the e5 community to continue to fight for social justice and work in solidarity with the voiceless to find their voice."
- Ayan Hassan, 19 years old, Global Potential 2011 youth fellow graduate
In October 2010, e5 generously offered to host Global Potential (GP) for a year free-of-charge, after we had opened up a year before in Boston. As a 100% volunteer-run global youth empowerment organization, we were initially only able to fundraise enough to sponsor youth fellows for the GP year and a half leadership and entrepreneurship local and international trainings in Boston, NY, Paris, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Nicaragua. Thanks to e5, two years later we have a much stronger fundraising base and community to support us in Boston. We have participated in and been inspired by many e5 gatherings and organized our events too in the unique e5 space:
Thanks to e5, GP youth fellows have a significantly richer human experience with the real world and actively learn how to engage effectively to create social change. We look forward to continuing to be part of this grassroots community movement to energize youth and communities worldwide through education, international cultural exchange and service work.
