Chelsea Uniting Against the War/Chelsea Uniéndose En Contra de la Guerra
Chelsea Uniting Against the War / Chelsea Uniéndose En Contra de la Guerra (CUAW) is a community anti-war organization based in the working class immigrant community of Chelsea, Massachusetts, just north ofBoston. We are writing this letter to express our support for e5...
CUAW has participated in many meetings at e5 where we have joined together with other anti-war and justice minded organizations in the greater Boston area to work for our common goals... We believe it has been a good example of much needed community-union unity in our struggle for justice. We think it is a good reflection of the union slogan “In our Unity lies our Strength.”
One highlight of our experience with e5 took place in July, 2009 when we sponsored a very positive presentation by Haitian trade union leader, Fignole Saint Cyr, General Secretary of the Autonomous Confederation of Haitian Workers at E-5 which was supported by a number of other organizations from theBoston area. As we walked up to [the] building, brother St. Cyr looked with amazement and joy at the large UNITE-HERE sign on your building. He commented “What a good message to have on the building where we are holding our meeting!” We agreed.
